Obituary

Hanson – Robert H. “Bob” Andrews 80, a lifelong resident of Hanson, died Wednesday February 13 in Boston Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of fifty-nine years to Phyllis (French) Andrews.

Born in Brockton and raised in Hanson he was the son of the late Robert C. and Jessie M. (Hovey) Andrews, and a graduate of Whitman High School, Class of 1951.

Bob proudly served his country in the US Army from 1953-1955, during the Korean conflict.

Locally Bob had been a well-known carpenter and owner of RC Andrews & Son.

As a lifelong and active resident of the Hanson community, Bob had held several positions in town government, serving on the board of selectman and the finance committee, as well as water commissioner, and town assessor. He had been a member of the Hanson Auxiliary Police for over 30 years and had devoted many years to local youth, volunteering as a Boy Scout Leader.

He was a loyal member of the Masonic Wampatuck Lodge, the Pilgrim Chapter of the Eastern Star, and the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.

He was a true “outdoorsman” and enjoyed the times spent hunting and fishing in Vermont. However his true happiness came from the many times spent with his large family surrounding him.

In addition to his wife Phyllis he is survived by his loving children Robert F. Andrews, Eugene K. Andrews and Philip J. Andrews all of Hanson, Gordon R. Andrews and Cynthia L. Elghonamy both of Halifax, Clifford F. Andrews of Charleston, VT, and Laurence H. Andrews of Watertown. He is also survived by his sister-in-law B .Jean Laaperi and his cousin Doris Jones of Oregon as well as twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews

His funeral service will be held Monday February 18 at 11 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Fern Hill Cemetery, Hanson. Visiting hours will be held Sunday Feb 17 from 2-6 PM, with an Eastern Star Service at 4:15 PM followed by Masonic Service at 4:45 PM.
