Obituary

Paull S. Horton of North Dighton died Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Morton Hospital
after a brief illness. Beloved husband of the late Patricia (Synan) Horton, he was 89
years old. He was born in Taunton to the late Leslie P. and Hazel (Wilbur) Horton. He
had been a nearly life-long resident of Dighton.

He graduated in 1941 from Dighton High School and attended Rhode Island School of
Design, Brown University and the Chicago Technical Institute. In 1944 he was
commissioned as a naval aviator, serving in the Pacific Theater with Air Group Two,
flying the Avenger Torpedo Bomber off the USS Shangri-La.

Following World War II, he became a union bricklayer with the F.N.Gustafson Company,
Providence, RI. He later became the General Superintendent of the J.Adolph Johnson
Company. In addition, he taught masonry and blue print reading in the Rhode Island
Apprentice Training Program. In 1976, he and wife co-founded Paull S. Horton General
Contractors,Inc. of East Providence, RI. later to become Horton Construction Company,
Inc. For nearly thirty five years, Horton Construction performed heavy industrial construction construction throughout New England.

He was very involved in the Dighton community. He was a driving force and the first
President of the Poppasquash Club. He served on the 300th Dighton Anniversary
Committee and was a member of the Boy Scout Troop 3 Committee. He served for a
number of years on the Membership Committee for the Associated Builders and
Contractors of Rhode Island. He was also a member of the Rhode Island Builders
Association of RI.

He was a voracious reader. He was a true life-long student of history, geography and
government and loved to engage family and friends in wonderful conversations. He was
a very proud citizen and a true patriot. More than anything else, he was a dedicated and
loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

He is survived by his daughter, Christine and her husband Brendan Lynch and his son,
John and his wife Paula; grandchildren Kate and her husband Chris O’Neil, John
Horton and his wife Robin, Mary Lynch and Alan Caswell, Emily and her husband Doug
Mann and Paul Horton; and his great-grandchildren Daniel O’Neil, Molly Mann, Henry
Caswell and Ada Horton.

He is also survived by his brother James and his wife Winifred, twenty-three nieces and
nephews, several cousins and some very special friends. He was also the brother of
the late Leslie Wilbur (Wib) and his late wife Violet.

Funeral from the O'Keefe-Wade Funeral Home 70 Washington St. Taunton Friday February 15 at 8 am. Followed by a Memorial Mass at St. Nicholas of Myra Church,Pearl St, N. Dighton at 9 am Calling Hours will be held on Thursday February 14,2013 from 5-8 pm. Following the Mass, he will be buried at the National Cemetery,Bourne,MA.at 11:15 am.
