Obituary

HOLYOKE - Gloria T. (Dopkowski) Fortin, 82, of Holyoke was Called Safely Home on Monday, February 11, 2013 at Wingate at West Springfield surrounded by her family and wonderful caregivers. Born in Holyoke on July 25, 1930, the daughter of Wanda (Czupkiewicz) Stadnicki. She was a 1948 graduate of Holyoke High School, later employed as a medical assistant/bookkeeper for Dr. Gerald Halton and bookkeeper for Clark’s Flower Shop. She was a communicant of Mater Dolorosa Church and enjoyed dance classes at Theater Dance Studio in Holyoke. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Earl A. Fortin who was Called Home in 1987; and her sister, Doris O’Neil. She leaves two daughters, Debra Fortin-Brochu and husband, Jon, of Holyoke and Wendy-Fortin LaRocque and husband, Raymond, of Belchertown. She also leaves her cherished granddaughter, Rachel Brochu of Holyoke; and four granddogs, Brodie, Zulu, Shelby and Lilly. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday morning, February 20, 2013, beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Jerome Cemetery, 1666 Northampton Street, Holyoke, MA 01040. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday morning, February 20, 2013, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. before the Mass. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
