Ortiz Harper, 79, of Ocilla, died Monday, February 11, 2013, at Appling Health Care System in Baxley, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at Spring Hill Primitive Baptist Church with the Elder Edward McIntyre and Elder Mickey Harris officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. Harper was born April 6, 1933, in Irwin County, Georgia to the late Ludy Guy Harper and Sarah Edna Seymour Harper. He lived in the community all of his life and was a farmer. He was a member of Spring Hill Primitive Baptist Church.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law: Sue & Steve Hayes of Baxley; son and daughter-in-law: Wilbur & Lisa Harper of Ocilla; eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; two sisters: Alice (Sonny) Douglas of Madison, Florida and Margaret Young of Iron Mountain, Michigan. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Janie M. Harper, son: Rodney A. Harper, infant grandchild: Kevin Harper and three brothers: James L. Harper, Seymour Harper and Lyte Harper.
