Helen E. (Weissent) MacKinnon of Waltham formerly of Needham died on Monday July 12, 2004 at the Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge. Born in Boston Mrs. MacKinnon had been a resident of Needham since 1953. She recently moved Waltham Crossings 17 months ago. Helen worked in the Administration Offices for the Needham School Department for many years. After retiring from the School Department she went to work for the William Carter Company. Helen drove for the Needham Community Council delivering meals or helping the elderly with transportation. She was an active parishioner of the Carter Memorial United Methodist Church in Needham where she was a member for over 50 years. Helen had formerly sung with the Sweet Adeline’s barbershop group. She was an avid bowler, belonging to two leagues until last year. Enjoyed square dancing, bridge and loved to travel and had traveled the world in recent years. Helen was the beloved wife of the late Hector E. MacKinnon. Loving mother of Kent MacKinnon of Bridgewater, Laurel MacKinnon of Northborough and Mark MacKinnon of Portsmouth RI. Sister of the late Frederick and Alexander Weissent. Dear grandmother of Matthew and Melissa MacKinnon. Funeral services at the Carter Memorial United Methodist Church 800 Highland Ave Needham on Friday July 16th at 9:00 Am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours at the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave. Needham on Thursday 4-8 Pm. Interment services will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Friday at 12:45 PM.
