Obituary

Edward N. Falls, 76, of Smithfield, died Sunday, February 10, 2013 at the Hospice Inpatient Center. He was the husband of Lorraine (Germain) Falls. They had been married for 53 years.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Edward N. and Mary (Langton) Falls. He had lived in Smithfield for 48 years.

Mr. Falls retired from Landmark Medical Center as the Chief Information Officer. He was a past president of the Northeast IBAX Healthcare user group, past president of Smithfield Junior Hockey and led the campaign for the building of the Smithfield Municipal Ice Rink. He was a member of the campaign committee, planning and building committee.

He was actively involved for over 35 years in the development of area youth hockey players as coach of the Smithfield Junior Hockey, NRI Vikings, Edgewood, East Providence Blues and Woonsocket youth hockey organizations. He organized and directed Smithfield ice rink skating skills clinics, coached state and New England Squirt and PeeWee championship hockey teams.

He is survived by his sons: Michael Falls and his wife, Joyce of Smithfield, Stephen Falls and his wife Erin of Smithfield, David Falls and his wife Kristen of Hamden, CT, his nine grandchildren: Kaitlin, Kailey, Ryan, Dylan, Lauren, Meghan, Hailey, Chloe, and Tyler and his sister Judith O’Connell of Providence

A Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Friday at 10am in St. Augustine Church 639 Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence, RI 02908. Burial will be private. Visitation Thursday 4-7pm in the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 or St. Augustine Church.
