Obituary

BELCHERTOWN - Laura M. (Dostie) Lachance, 95, of Pine Valley Plantation in Belchertown was Called Home on Friday, February 8, 2013. She passed into Eternal Life from her home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born on May 9, 1917 in Inverness, Province of Quebec, Canada, a beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Leonie Dostie. She was raised in Canada and moved to Belchertown in 1956 with her late husband, Lionel Lachance. She was a longtime communicant of the former Saint Anne Church in Three Rivers where she was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne of the parish. She was currently a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Belchertown. She was married for 70 years to her beloved husband Lionel Lachance who was Called Home on July 2, 2009. She was also predeceased by her beloved son, Gaston Lachance who was Called Home on May 20, 2007; her cherished granddaughters, Selina Lachance and Gretchen Lachance; and nine loving siblings. Laura was the matriarch of a large family who showered her with their love and affection. She leaves her loving children, Helen Bellefleur and her husband, Richard, of Huntington, P.Q., Canada, Gerard Lachance and his wife, Barbara, of Baltic, CT, Marielle Peloquin and her husband, Marcel, of Sturbridge, MA, Yvon Lachance of Palmer, John Lachance and his wife, Carol, of Bondsville, Lisette Miron and her husband, Lin, of Belchertown, Yvan Lachance and his wife, Rosa, of Palmer, Yves Lachance of Belchertown, Robert Lachance and his wife, Ellen, of Belchertown and Roger Lachance and his wife, Shelly, of Monson; her 23 cherished grandchildren; her 29 cherished great grandchildren; her loving sister, Annette Turgeon of Thetford Mines, P.Q., Canada; and her many dear nephews and nieces. Her funeral will be held on Friday morning, February 15, 2013 beginning at 8 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Saint Francis of Assisi Church, 24 Jabish Street, Belchertown, MA 01007. Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Anne Cemetery on Main Street in Three Rivers. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday morning, February 15, 2013 from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. before the Mass. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to either Saint Francis of Assisi Church, 10 Park Street, Belchertown, MA 01007 or to the Wing Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, 42 Wright Street, Palmer, MA 01069.
