DOUGLAS: Shirley Jean (Byers) Wormley, 67, died on January 30, 2013 at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester following a brief illness from complications of recent surgery.
She was born in Natick on September 3, 1945 the daughter of the late Harold Byers and Jane G. (Wilson) Byers.
Shirley is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 37 years David H. Wormley of Douglas formerly of Natick. She was the beloved mother of Beth Holt and her husband Edward and their children Rozlyn Autria Holt and Myla Victoria Holt all of Franklin. Sister of Fred Byers, Harold “Duke” Byers, the late John Byers and aunt of the late Lawrence Byers.
Shirley has been a resident of Douglas for the past 10 years and spent most of her life in Natick. She attended the Natick schools and for several years was associated with Peoples Laundry of Natick. She was an avid reader and was devoted to her husband, daughter and granddaughters. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends who knew Shirley during her lifetime.
At the request of her family, there will be no funeral home visitations. A Memorial Service celebrating Shirley’s life will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the North Uxbridge Baptist Church, 5 East Hartford Avenue, Uxbridge, MA with the Rev. James Walton, Pastor officiating.
Interment will be private and for her family in Lakeview Cemetery in Wayland at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, her family suggests that memorial gifts in her memory may be sent to Riverside Community Care, Cross Roads Clubhouse, 11 William St, Hopedale, MA 01747 and would be greatly appreciated.
