Helen L. (Joia) Andrews, 80, of West Wareham passed away on July 13, 2004, unexpectedly at Boston Medical Center.
She was the wife of the late Albert Andrews.
Born and raised in East Wareham, daughter of the late Emanuel and Philonina (Britto) Joia, she lived in Mattapoisett most of her life before moving to West Wareham 3 years ago.
Mrs. Andrews was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church in Mattapoisett and St. Patrick's Church in Wareham.
She was formerly employed by Acushnet Company for many years until her retirement.
Mrs. Andrews was a member and former chaplain of the Florence Eastman American Legion Post 0280 Ladies Auxiliary in Mattapoisett.
Survivors include a son, Paul F. Joia of Wareham; 2 brothers, Manuel "Junie" Joia of Apple Valley, CA and Arthur Joia Sr. of East Falmouth; 7 sisters, Jennie Roderick of Chatham, Tina Raneo, and her husband Wally, of Harwichport, Rita Vieira, and her husband Frank, of West Wareham, Doris Ferreira, and her husband Gus, of New Bedford, Frances Dawson, Hilda Gibson, and her husband John, and Irene Walker, and her husband Sonny, all of Florida; 3 grandchildren, Andrew Joia, Adrian Joia and Paul Joia, II; 9 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Alice Joia.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6), Mattapoisett, Friday, July 16th at 9 AM.Funeral Mass at St. Anthony's Church at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visiting hours Thursday, July 15th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
