Albert S. Frye Jr., age 85, passed away on Feb.2, 2013 at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. He was born on Feb. 15, 1927 in Flint, MI. His parents were the late Albert S. Sr., and Jennieviene R. (Fisher) Frye. Albert was a WWII Navy Veteran. He worked as a welder for over 35 years before he retired from Hardigg Industries in 1990. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 337 in Chicopee and a former member of the Moose Family Lodge. He was a founding member of the former West State Soccer League and a member of the Southwick Country Club. He loved to golf, travel, cook, garden, watch the History Channel, and read, especially any books about WWII. He leaves his loving wife of 56 years, Marilyn A. (Fossett) Frye of Chicopee; his son Stephen Frye and his wife Laurie of Montgomery; his daughter Laurel Placzek and her husband Steven of Westfield; his sister, Dorothy Tyburski of Chicopee along with his 3 beloved grandchildren, Karlyn, Steven and Matthew. He is predeceased by his sister Hazel Frye. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Feb.10, 2013 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. An in house Funeral Service will be held on Monday, Feb.11, 2013 at 12:00 Noon in the funeral home, followed by burial at the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. A visitation period will be held on the morning of the funeral from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holyoke Soldiers Home Recreation Department, 110 Cherry St, Holyoke, MA 01104.
