BEVERLY: Kathleen T. “Kit” (Cassista) Young, 66, died Monday, February 4, 2013 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers.
Born in Danvers on April 18, 1946, she was the daughter of the late George and Kathleen (Higgins) Cassista. She was a graduate of the Danvers High School and attended North Shore Community College. Kit had resided in Salem for many years before moving to Beverly ten years ago.
She was employed as a house manager at Bass River of Beverly for twenty-five years. She had also once worked as a home health aide for several years and touched the lives of those she cared for.
Kit enjoyed drawing and painting and spending time with her grandchildren, who called her “Nee Nee.” She loved adventures, camping, traveling, hiking and the independence of her little maroon scooter.
She is survived by three daughters, twins, Kristen Young, wife of Matt King of Beverly and Kerianne Young of Danvers, Shannon Young, and her companion, Brian MacArthur of Salem; her son, Shawn Young of South Hamilton; ten grandchildren, Alex, Nathan, Corey, Daniel, Jared, Natalia, Gabriel, Eric, Ethan and Elliot; three brothers, Armand Cassista and his wife Patricia, George Cassista and his wife Heidi and Daniel Cassista; two sisters, Eileen Williams and Maureen Steen; her former spouse, Richard Young and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her brother, Thomas Cassista.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly from 1 – 3 p.m. followed by a celebration of her life at the Italian Community Center, 302 Rantoul Street, Beverly from 3 - 5 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to her daughter, Kristen.
