Obituary

Lawrence, MA - Dorothy (Ruffen) Hogya, 88, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2013 surrounded by her loving family.

Dorothy was born in Lawrence on April 22, 1924, to the late Aubrey and May (McDermott) Ruffen. Growing up in Lawrence, Dorothy was a graduate of Lawrence High School. She later attended McIntosh School of Business in Andover, Ma. Dorothy resided in Lawrence, MA for 64 years with her husband Emil F. Hogya, where they raised there family. She and her husband were members of Sacred Hearts Church in Lawrence for over 30 years until it's closing, at which time they became members of St. Patricks Church.

Dorothy always enjoyed spending time with her family, in which she cherished more than anything else. Dorothy always enjoyed taking family vacations together with her daughter Audrey and her family. Many happy vacation memories were made from spending time at the beach, Florida vacations as well as others in which they were always done as a family. Dorothy was employed by Tyer Rubber for 30 years and later worked in Management for Gibco in Lawrence. For many years and after her retirement , Dorothy along with her family vacations enjoyed knitting, macramé , crossword puzzles and making homemade candy. Dorothy's favorite holiday was Christmas where she always made it extra special for her three Grandchildren. Dorothy adored all her great grandchildren and always enjoyed speaking of them to anyone who would listen. She enjoyed spoiling them on any occasion she was able.

Dorothy leaves behind her husband of 64 years, Emil F. Hogya, a daughter Audrey L. Todd and her husband, Kevin of Derry, NH. Three Grandchildren Melanie Beauchesne and her husband, Norman of Derry, NH, Brian M. Todd of Derry, NH and Shaun W. Todd and his wife, Sarah of Newburyport.

She also leaves behind Eight Great Grandchildren Alysha, Aubrie and Alison Beauchesne, Colton, Dalton and Logan Todd, Cameron and Charles Todd.

Sister in- laws Mary Lou Ruffen, Elaine Ruffen, Eleanor Ruffen and Margie Turchik. She also leaves behind dozens of nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was predeceased in life by her son Jeffery Hogya whom passed away shortly after birth. She was also predeceased by her sister Mae (Ruffen) Morin and brothers John, Leslie, Thomas, Phillip, George and William Ruffen. Dorothy was also predeceased by a special friend of the entire family Jean Fitzwater.

The family wishes to express profound thanks to Dr. Phyllis Spieler of North Andover, MA. Also to the exceptionally fine and compassionate care Dorothy received by certain individuals with respect to her healthcare. Dorothy will be sadly missed but forever in our hearts.

Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 8th, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Patricks Church in Lawrence, MA. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence, MA.
