Howard M. Lucas, 92, of Stuart, FL formerly of Dartmouth died Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Martin Medical Center in Stuart, FL. He was husband of Helen (Eskow) Lucas.
Born in Freetown, MA, son of the late Moulton M. and Hazel M. (Reynolds) Lucas, he had lived in Dartmouth for most of his life prior to becoming a resident of Stuart, FL. A veteran of WWII, he served his country in the United States Army. Prior to retirement in 1985, he was the owner/operator of Howard Truck Center and had worked for the Auto Car Trucks Company of New Bedford until opening his own dealership. Mr. Lucas was a member of the Hawthorne Country Club and was a former member of the Country Club of New Bedford, the Wamsutta Club, New Bedford and the Paskamansett Beagle Club, Dartmouth. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing.
Including his wife, he is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Eva P. Mattsson.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the Potter Funeral Home at 12:30 P.M.
Visitation will be from 10:30 A.M. – 12:30 P.M. prior to the service.
Interment will be in Friends Cemetery, Dartmouth.
