Obituary

zRichard Turner, 87, of Salem, NH died Monday, February 4th. He had lived in Salem for 55 years.

Richard was born and educated in Lawrence, MA, graduating from Lawrence High School. He served in the US Navy during WW II. Richard worked as a pattern maker for Davis & Furber Machine Co. in North Andover, MA until his retirement. He was a member of Lawrence United Masonic Lodge. Richard was a very active member of Essex County Beekeepers Association. For many years, he had displays at the Topsfield Fair, where he won many awards. He was a well known beekeeper in the Salem area. Richard enjoyed vegetable gardening and his family and neighbors also enjoyed his harvest.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, E. Doreen (Shipp) Turner in 2004.

Richard is survived by his two daughters, Shirley and her husband Dennis Wright and Jean and her husband Herbert Makin; grandson, Matthew Coates and great grandson, Bryce Coates.


Due to the weather, services have changed. Calling hours will be Sunday, February 10th from 2-5 PM, at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH. The Funeral Service will be Monday at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem.
