Margaret E. Unger, 84

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Margaret E. (Creeden) Unger, age 84, a lifelong resident of Mansfield, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, February 4, 2013 at Willow Crossing in Mansfield. She was the beloved wife of over 60 years to the late Edward W. Unger, Sr.
Born in Norwood, MA on February 11, 1928, she was a daughter of the late John V. and Julia (O’Leary) Creeden. She grew up in Mansfield and was a 1947 graduate of Mansfield High School.
Mrs. Unger was a dedicated homemaker to her adoring family and had also worked for 25 years as a health worker at the Taunton State Hospital and the former Foxboro State Hospital, prior to retiring in 1988.
A lifelong communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield, Peg loved knitting, crocheting and especially spending time with family. She also enjoyed camping in Maine and winters spent with her late husband Edward in Naples, Florida.
She is survived by her devoted sons, Edward W. Unger, Jr. and his wife Sheila of Lynnfield, Daniel V. Unger and his wife Christine of Colorado, Thomas F. Unger and his wife Vera of Mansfield, James P. Unger and his wife Carol of Mansfield, John D. Unger, III and his wife Kathy of Wrentham and Joseph K. Unger and his wife Susan of Tennessee. She was the dear sister of Juliet Flynn and the late John Creeden, Edward Creeden, Mary Sullivan, Harold Creeden and Daniel Creeden, and is also survived by her cherished 14 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday February 11th at 8:00 A.M. from the Sherman &Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 9:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield at a time to be announced. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday , February 10th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
