Rose Gracia, 81, of New Bedford died February 3, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
Born and raised in Falmouth, the daughter of the late Antonio R. and Luiza (Lopes Correia) Gracia, she lived in New York and Taunton before moving to New Bedford in 1969.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Assumption Church.
Rose was formerly employed by Taunton State Hospital for many years until her retirement.
She enjoyed word puzzles, old music and watching religious services on tv.
Survivors include her son, Ricardo Gracia and his wife Doreen of New Bedford; her niece and 2 nephews who she raised as her own, Frank Burris of Boston, Michael Burris of New Bedford and Lisa Burris of Georgia; a brother, Antone Gracia of Taunton; a sister, Dorothy Avellar of Taunton; many cousins including Nancy Silva of New Bedford; 9 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Margaret Lopes, Anna Barrows and Hilda Green.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Friday, February 8th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Visiting hours Thursday, February 7th from 4-8 PM.
