Evelyn F. Lowe, 89

Evelyn F. (Crehan) Lowe, age 89, of Norton, formerly of Randolph passed away after a brief illness on Friday, February 1, 2013 at the Kindred Hospital Northeast in Stoughton. She was the beloved wife of the late Fred E. Lowe.
Born in Medford, MA on August 22, 1923 she was a loving daughter of the late Francis M. and Theresa L. (Fogel) Crehan.
Evelyn grew up in Medford, Dorchester and Hyde Park, and was a 1941 graduate of Hyde Park High School. During WWII she proudly served her country as a member of the United States Coast Guard. She was honorably discharged from the service on April 4, 1946 with the rank of Yeoman First Class.
A dedicated homemaker to her adoring family, Mrs. Lowe raised her six children after the untimely death of her husband Fred. She had also worked at the Shawmut Bank in Boston. Following a 23 year career spent at Shawmut Bank, she retired in 1988 as a Data Entry Manager.
A resident of Norton for the past 16 years, she was a former longtime resident of Randolph. Evelyn was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton and while residing in Randolph was a parishioner of St. Bernadette’s Church.
Evelyn loved gardening, solving crossword puzzles, playing electronic poker games and will always be remembered for her exceptional cooking skills. She was also a member of “The Club” where she enjoyed getting together and socializing with girlfriends from Hyde Park and had formerly attended the Mansfield Adult Day Care Center.
She is survived by her devoted children, Michael Lowe and his wife Ann of Middleboro, Maureen Lowe of Hanson, Stephen Lowe and his wife Joanne of Abington, Christine Brewster of Pembroke, Peggy Lowe of Norton, Denise Hayes of Assonet and the late Dennis Lowe. She was the dear sister of Katherine Crehan of Mashpee, Ann O’Rourke and her husband Joseph of New Jersey and the late Carolyn Sacco and her husband Henry. She is also survived by her cherished 8 grandchildren, Sean, Julie, Erin, Kristin, Jonathan, Joshua, Kayla and Nick, as well as 6 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Her Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Friday, February 8th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial with military honors will follow at 12:45 P.M. at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, February 7th from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
