SPRINGFIELD - Shirley Zalowski, 92, died peacefully on February 2, 2013 at the Heritage Hall East Nursing Home in Agawam. She was born in Springfield on December 20, 1920, the daughter of the late Felix and Catherine (Prokop) Zalowski. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her brothers, Marion and Stanley Zalowski. Shirley was a lifelong resident of Springfield and had worked for several years at the former Totsy’s Doll and Toy Manufacturing Company in Holyoke. She was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Springfield. Shirley was a very loving, independent woman who was an accomplished seamstress and loved animals. She leaves her nephew, Dr. Richard Zalowski, his wife, Tina, and Richard’s sons, Anthony and Nicholas Zalowski; her nieces, Catherine “Marcella” DiMauro and her husband, Joseph and Feliz M. Hebert and her husband, Roland, all of Cape Cod. Her family would like to thank the staff of Heritage Hall East for their loving care. Funeral services will be private.
