Mary Creel Howell, 84, of Tifton died Sunday, February 3, 2013, at Southern Care Assisted Living in Tifton. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Dr. Danny Ray will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Jerry Watson, Cliff Griffin, Danny Ogletree and Mike Hall will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Howell was born on July 2, 1928 in Tift County and was the daughter of Carson Creel and Ocie Alexander Creel Scott, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Rudolph “J.R.” Howell, who died in 2003; and four brothers, Bobby Creel, Gene Scott, Wendell Scott and Keith Edward Creel, Sr. She worked at Southern Bell and was a homemaker. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Tifton.
Mrs. Howell is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Verlin and Velma Scott of Tifton; Bonnie Scott of Tifton and Dannett Creel of Pooler; and several nieces and nephews.
