Mary B. (Flaherty) Junta, a 6 year resident of Burlington and former longtime resident of Charlestown, passed into eternal life on Friday, February 1, 2013 at her home in Burlington following a courageous battle with cancer. She was 82 years old.
Mary was born in Boston on October 30, 1930, a daughter of the late John J. Flaherty and Barbara (Durrane) Flaherty. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended the Boston Public School system. Mary worked for over 20 years as a Home Health Aide for the Visiting Nurse Association in Cambridge. She enjoyed reading and most of all Mary dedicated her adult life to the love and caring of her 12 children.
Mary is the devoted and loving mother of Barbara Tracy and her husband Arthur, Mary Ellen Brown and her husband Richard, John Junta and his wife Susan, Agnes Junta-White, Thomas Junta, Ann Kelly and her husband Bernie, James Junta, Michael Junta, Theresa Lawton, Paul Junta and his wife Sheila, Daniel Junta and his wife Caroline and Patrick Junta and his wife Caroline. She is the loving Grandmother to 18 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of the late Florence Salvato and Anne Flaherty.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mary's Funeral on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum in Malden. Visiting hours Tuesday, February 5, 2013 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
