Obituary

Mary R. (Dardis) O’Connor age 91, of Brockton formerly of Somerville died Friday February 1, 2013 at the Island Terrace Nursing Home after a brief illness. She was the loving wife of the late James M. O’Connor. A lifelong resident of Somerville, Mary was a graduate of St. Joseph Girls High School and had lived in Brockton for the past four years.

Mary had been and accounts secretary at the former Cotts Bottling Company in Somerville and had also worked for several Boston engineering firms. Mary loved Irish music, summers at the Cape and solving crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed all sports especially Boston College football and hockey. Her true joy in life was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.

Mary was the mother of John “Jack” O’Connor and his wife Regina of Brockton; Janice Ronalter and her husband Peter of Newton; Justin O’Connor and his partner Jerome McGranaghan of Tucson, AZ and the late James V. O’Connor and his widow Rosanne Roe of Maryland. She leaves five grandchildren Shane, Matthew, Jacqueline, Regina and Maryann and many nieces and nephews. Mary was the sister of the late John “Jack”, Ed “Buddy” and George Dardis.

Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Monday 4-8 pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Tuesday at 8 am followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9 am. Burial in the Mass National Cemetery in Bourne at 11:30. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Mary’s name to the charity of your choice.
