Obituary

Virginia Healy Warren, 84, of Bedford, NH, passed away at the Community Hospice Home in Merrimack on February 2, 2013 after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Ginny was born in Eastport, Maine on September 13, 1928. On June 23, 1956, she married her husband of 56 years, Robert Peacock Warren.
Ginny attended Shead Memorial High School, Eastport, Maine. She graduated from the University of Maine at Orono in 1951 with a degree in Nutrition. Ginny was a member of Chi Omega sorority. Following graduation, Ginny returned to downeast Maine and taught Home Economics at Lubec High School. While teaching in Lubec, Ginny was introduced to her loving husband, Bob. For the first two years of their marriage, Bob served as a member of the US Army. Ginny and Bob were first stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky, where their daughter, Lynne, was born. They then moved to Germany, where their second daughter, Martha, was born. At the end of Bob’s military service, they returned to the US and their roots in Maine. As Bob began his civilian career, they moved throughout New England. Their son, Stephen, was born in Calais, Maine. Their second son, Robert, was born in Stamford, Connecticut.
In 1967, Ginny and Bob moved to Wexford, Pennsylvania, where their daughter, Pamela, was born. Through the years, Ginny focused on raising their growing family. In Pittsburgh, Ginny began substitute teaching in the North Allegheny School District and established a successful career as a real estate agent in the North Hills area of Pittsburgh. In 1980, Ginny and Bob moved their family to Bedford. Ginny began her tenure with the Bedford School District in 1981. Ginny taught Family and Consumer Sciences at McKelvie Middle School from 1981 – 2004, retiring at the age of 76. Ginny continued to substitute teach in the Bedford schools until her diagnosis of cancer in March of 2012. Ginny cherished the opportunity to positively impact the children that she taught.
Ginny was an avid tennis player while living in Wexford. She kept physically fit here in Bedford at aerobics classes and walking with Bob through the streets of their neighborhood. Ginny and Bob were always actively involved with the many activities of their five children, cheering them on at tennis matches, swim meets, soccer games. As her family continued to grow, Ginny’s favorite activities always included spending quality time with her family, including her 13 grandchildren.
Ginny is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Alphonsus and Linnie Wentworth Healy, and her dear sister, Evelyn Healy Hichborn.
Ginny is survived by her loving husband, Robert, of Bedford; her children, Lynne Evans (David) of Downingtown, PA, Martha Supina (Richard) of State College, PA, Stephen (Jane) of West Hartford, CT, Robert (Julie) of Ipswich, MA, and Pamela Hughes (John) of Bedford; her grandchildren, Christine and Matthew Evans, Kathryn, Megan and Kevin Supina, Kate and Chris Warren, Robert, Jonathon and Ava Warren and Morgan, Nicholas and Arianna Hughes; a loving sister, Mary Healy Leach of Kittery, ME and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Saint Elizabeth Seton Church, 190 Meetinghouse Rd., Bedford, NH, with Rev. Michael Gendron officiating.

Committal prayers were held on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy., Boscawen, NH.

Ginny’s family also wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Elliot Hospital, Hospice division of the Visiting Nurse Association of Manchester and Southern New Hampshire, Inc. and the Community Hospice Home, who enabled Ginny to maintain her dignity and be at peace at the end of life’s journey.
