James S. Youmans, age 56 passed away peacefully on January 30, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was born March 24, 1956 to Samuel A Youmans and the Late Kathryn (Sofield) Youmans. Jim was raised in the Albany, NY area, and was a 1974 graduate of Voorheesville Central High School, Voorheesville, NY. He served 3 years in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Jim owned and operated the Youmans Carpet Cleaning Service for 34 years.
He was a past member of the Ledyard Lions Club and BNI of New London. Jim also served on the Board of Trustees of the Ledyard Congregational Church. He enjoyed bowling and spending time with his family.
Jim is survived by his Loving Wife of 33 years, Mary (Beaulieu) Youmans, his Daughter and Son In Law, Jennifer (Youmans) and Andrew Vuono of Brooklyn, NY, his Son Christopher Youmans at home, his Father Samuel Youmans of Voorheesville, NY, his Sister and Brother In Law Donna (Youmans) and John Clark of Gales Ferry, His Brother and Sister In Law David and Sharon Youmans of Greenbush, NY , his Brother and Sister In Law Timothy and Midge Youmans of Winchester, VA and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
The celebration of Jim’s life that was originally scheduled to be held on February 9, 2013 at 11:00am at the Ledyard Congregational Church has been cancelled because of snow. When rescheduled, the service arrangements will be published in the New London Day and on this website.
