Obituary

Rachel D. Archibald, 87, of 25 Union Avenue died July 10, 2004 in Lakes Region General Hospital. Born in Laconia on September 14, 1916, the daughter of Joseph and Alida (Labreque) Decelles, she resided here all of her life.

Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as a sales clerk at the former A&P Supermarket and F.W. Woolworth Co. She also worked on a part-time basis Capt. Bob’s Fishmarket for many years.

Rachel was an avid cribbage player and loved to play Bingo.

Her husband, of 60 years, Howard O. Archibald died July 29, 2003.

Family members include a granddaughter, Christine A. Archibald of Laconia; a great-granddaughter, Amber Stephens of Concord; two sisters, Dorothy Stevens of Laconia and Rita DeRoy of Belmont; a daughter in law, Eleanor Archibald of Laconia; several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a son, H. Michael Archibald in 1989.

There are no calling hours. A graveside ceremony was held in Union Cemetery Friday at 1PM. Timothy C. Molan and David L. Furber of the Simoneau & Lambert Funeral Home, 139 Church St. were the funeral directors.
