Alfred Ernest Thompson, 82, of Walpole died January 30 in the Harrington House in Walpole. He was the husband of Faith (Bolton) Thompson who he married on December 23, 1950.
Born in Cambridge, May 15, 1930, the son of the late Alfred R. and Esther (Vowles) Thompson, Mr. Thompson as raised in Cambridge and had lived in Franklin for fifty years prior to moving to New Pond Village in Walpole in 2010.
Mr. Thompson was a graduate of Cambridge Rindge Technical School. He was also graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1960 and was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma.
He received a Master of Business Administration Degree, Summa Cum Laude, from Babson College in 1970.
Mr. Thompson enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served from 1950-1954.
Mr. Thompson had been a financial manager at the Raytheon Company for 25 years before retiring in 1992.
Al enjoyed cooking and gardening.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his son Brandon E. Thompson and his wife Sharon of Nashua, New Hampshire.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Grant E. and Ava M. Thomson of Nashua, New Hampshire.
A memorial service will held at a later date.
