Bridgewater - Elaine (Girard) Tolivaisa, 76, of Bridgewater died Saturday, July 10, at West Acres Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brockton after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Alvah S. Tolivaisa.
Born Dec. 21, 1927, in Plymouth, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Helena (Murphy) Girard.
Mrs. Tolivaisa was raised and educated in Plymouth and was a graduate of Plymouth High School and Bridgewater State College.
She was a homemaker and resided in Bridgewater for more than 52 years.
Mrs. Tolivaisa also was a schoolteacher in the Pembroke and Bridgewater school systems.
She enjoyed reading.
She is survived by a son, Michael J. Tolivaisa and his wife Nancy of Wrentham; a daughter, Susan Pagliaro and her husband Michael of Maryland; a brother, Raymond Girard of Florida; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be at 8 a.m. Wednesday from the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Thomas Aquinas Church at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Massachusetts National Cemetery.
