Obituary

BEVERLY: Paul F. Harrington, 87, died peacefully Monday, January 28, 2013 in the Blueberry Hill Healthcare Center. He was the beloved husband of Evelyn K. (O’Brien) Harrington.
Born in Beverly on September 10, 1925, he was the son of the late David and Frances (Hurley) Harrington. A lifelong resident of Beverly, Paul attended Beverly public schools, where he lettered in football, basketball, baseball and golf. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was honorably discharged in May 1946.
Paul worked for Colonial Paving for over fifteen years and as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Beverly for several years. He also worked in the transportation department of Endicott College in Beverly for many years before his retirement.
He enjoyed the outdoors, golfing, loved to cook and was addicted to crossword puzzles.
In addition to his wife of sixty-three years, he is survived by two daughters, Paula J. Masella of Beverly and Judith A. Grundy and her husband Joseph “Butch” of Port Charlotte, FL; three sons, Kevin P. Harrington, Stephen R. Harrington, and Paul F. Harrington, Jr. and his wife, Kerri A. all of Beverly; eight grandchildren, Nathan, Courtney, Corey, Alana, Taryn and Paul Harrington, III, Paul Grundy and Gina Masella; eleven great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Barry; a brother, Bill Harrington and his wife, Joanne; dear friends Gene and Sandy Shrayer and their children, Lisa Sillars and Kevin Shrayer and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by a sister, Patsy Harrington.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot St., Beverly at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
