Obituary

CHICOPEE – Lorraine D. (Pelletier) LaBrie, 85, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Sunday, January 27, 2013. She passed into Eternal Life at the Holyoke Health Care Center, surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Holyoke on June 21, 1927, a beloved daughter of the late Alfred J. and Marie (Meunier) Pelletier. At a young age, her parents moved to Mexico, Maine where they lived for several years. She eventually returned to Holyoke and lived there until 1950 when she and her husband, Albert, moved to the Aldenville section of Chicopee. During her younger years, she was employed for a time at the Holyoke Tissue Mills. She then became a stay at home mom to raise and nurture her four children. During her leisure time, Lorraine loved cooking, going shopping, and playing bingo with her many friends. Active in her faith, she was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. She was a quiet woman who adored her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She leaves her devoted husband and best friend, Albert J. LaBrie. They were married on May 14, 1949 at the former Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Holyoke and were blessed with over 63 years of happiness together. She also leaves her loving children, Alfred J. “Fred” LaBrie and his wife, Lynn, Carol A. LaBrie and her husband, Philip A. Myers, Lawrence A. LaBrie and his wife, Louise, and Lisa M. LaBrie and her fiancé, Michael Lively, all of Chicopee; her seven cherished grandchildren whom she adored, Jeffrey Vermette and his wife, Jennifer, Kevin Vermette, James Vermette and his fiancée, Tara Labucki, Craig LaBrie and his wife, Jessica, Scott LaBrie and his fiancée, Angela Jagiello, Brianna Gardiner and Brooke Gardiner; her three cherished great grandchildren who were the apple of her eye, Jacob and Jonathan Vermette and Samuel LaBrie; and her many dear nephews and nieces. Her funeral will be held on Thursday morning, January 31, 2013, beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will be private at the convenience of her family at Sainte Rose Cemetery in Chicopee. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Saint Joan of Arc School Fund, 587 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
