Charles W. ‘Charlie’ Guenther, 82, of Dudley Hill Rd., passed away Saturday, January 26, 2013 with his family at his side in UMass/Memorial Hospital, Memorial Campus in Worcester.
He leaves his wife of 60 years, Theresa L. (Simonelli) Guenther, 2 daughters; Susan M. Glann and her husband Alan of Lewiston, ME., and Carol Ann L. Guenther of Webster, daughter-in-law, Kathleen Guenther of Webster and son-in-law, Richard Reich of Dudley, a brother, Louis R. Guenther, Jr. of Webster, a sister, Patricia Przybylek of Webster, 9 grandchildren, 1 great grand-daughter and nieces and nephews.
Charlie was predeceased by a daughter, Marilyn T. Reich who died in 1997, and 2 sons; Charles W. Guenther, Jr. who died in 1955 and Paul L. Guenther who died in 1999.
He was born in Webster a son of Louis R. and Sally (Suss) Guenther, Sr. and lived in the Webster-Dudley area all his life. Charlie was a Korean War veteran and served in the U.S.Navy. He owned and operated the former Main Lunch in Webster until 1980, later he worked for the Webster School Dept. as a custodian before he retired.
He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church and the Charles R. Guenther V.F.W. Post .
Calling Hours will be Tuesday, January 29, 2013 from 5PM to 8 PM in the Robert J. Miller Funeral Home and Lake Chapel, 366 School St., Webster.
The Funeral will be Wednesday, January 30, 2013 with a Mass at 10 AM in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 24 Dudley Hill Rd., Dudley. Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Webster.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to: St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105-1905.
