Ila B. Moore of Brighton died on Saturday July 10 at Wingate at Brighton. She was 88 years old. Miss Moore was born in the family home in Brighton that her father built. She was a graduate of Brighton High School Class of 1934. She worked at Jordan Marsh in downtown Boston before starting her own home business making fruitcakes at the family farm in Island Pond VT. Many of her orders were from the U.S. Government for World War II servicemen. Later, Ila worked as a cook and chef at many Boston Hotels and institutions. She worked for 22 years at the Commonwealth School a private high school in Boston as a chef. She also worked part time week ends as a cook at the Hale House a retirement house in Boston and at the Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity at MIT. The dear sister of Dorothy Keef of Arlington and the late Bernard C. Moore she was the loving aunt of Ruth Howard and her husband Paul of Millis, Robert and his wife Maria Moore of Freemont CA, Bryan and his wife Mary Keef of Orlando FL, Marian and her husband David Simons of Billerica and the late Bernard C. Moore Jr. and his wife Maureen of Shrewsbury. A Memorial Service will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Avenue Needham on Wednesday July 14th at 8:00PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting Hours on Wednesday from 5-8 PM prior to the service.
