Mildred Wilkinson, 87 of Taunton, died Friday, January 25, at Wedgemere nursing facility. She was the wife of the late Joseph Wilkinson. Born in East Bridgewater, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mildred (Nordstrom) Morey. Known as “Tootsie,” she enjoyed elephants, casinos, gambling, the color pink, crocheting and knitting, caring for her family. She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception.
She leaves 3 sons & 3 daughters: Daniel, Joseph, & Richard Wilkinson, and Brenda Hendricks, Mary McDermott & Shelley Chace (all of Taunton). Brianna Miles of Taunton, a grandchild whom Mildred adopted as her own child, held a special place in her heart. She also leaves 3 sisters: Marlene Pollard (Halifax), Merna Dion (Oldsmar, FL) & Carol Yannone (Taunton); and 3 brothers: John Morey (Falmouth), Robert Morey (Brockton), and Wayne Hamilton (Ohio). She is predeceased by 3 brothers: Raymond, Richard and Joseph (Jr) Morey. She leaves 11 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM on Friday, February 1, at St. Jude the Apostle Parish, 249 Whittenton St, followed by Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery.
