William “Pup” Weatherbee, 85, died Tuesday morning, January 22, 2013 following a brief illness at the Kaplan Family Hospice House surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Nancy (Gilliland) Weatherbee.
Born in Lynn on July 17, 1927, he was the son of the late Harold and Christine (Tucker) Weatherbee. He was raised and educated in Lynn and then served honorably in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
He was employed as a machinist by Citrus Fruit Juice Co., and also La Touraine Coffee and Araban Coffee. After his retirement, he enjoyed working at the Middleton Golf Course for several years.
A longtime Peabody resident, Bill was a lifelong member of the Holy Trinity United Methodist Church, a member of American Legion Post 345, and the Mt. Crmel Lodge AF&AM in Lynn. He was a loving father and grandfather who was an avid Red Sox fan and golfer.
He is survived by three daughters, Nancy Ruth(Ru) and Rob Littlejohn of Peabody, Gayle Stanley and her husband Arthur of Peabody, and Beth Spencer and her husband Donald of Danvers, a son, William Weatherbee, Jr. and his wife Carmen of Allenstown, NH; a beloved “Pup” to his grandchildren, he leaves Amy Waldron, George and wife Kristin, Michael, and Andy Stanley, Jennifer Weatherbee-Pike, Kyle, Erik and wife Sabrina, Brett, Allyson, and Jack Spencer, his great-grandchildren, Jordan, Scarlett, Olivia, Betty, Lily, George, Ella, Caden, Reese, Aubrey, and Cooper William, his sister-in-laws, Lila Weatherbee and Gloria LeBlanc and many neices and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister and brothers, Margaret Higgins, Jack, Thomas, Charles, and his twin Norman Weatherbee, and a sister-in-law Evelyn Weatherbee.
Bill’s family wishes to thank the staff at Masconomet Healthcare and the Kaplan Family Hospice House for the wonderful care he was given during his illness.
His Funeral Service will be Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 11AM in the Holy Trinity United Methodist Church, 16 Sylvan St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Exeter Cemetery, Exeter, NH. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will precede the service in the church from 10-11AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill’s memory to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St., Danvers, MA 01923.
