Obituary

GRACE, Marion, 66, Fall River

Marion (Gasior) Grace, 66, of Fall River passed away January 21, 2013 at home surrounded by loving family. She was the wife of Frank Grace III and daughter of the late Walter and Sophie (Kaczynska) Gasior who called her “Mania”, a name many still use for her with much affection.

She was a graduate of Mt. St. Mary Academy and Saint Anne’s Hospital School of Nursing. She later married her neighbor and high school sweetheart, living for a time in Charleston, SC and San Diego, CA during Frank’s service in the US Navy. They then returned to Fall River and raised their family.

Thousands of area residents benefited from her care as a Registered Nurse during her career at Saint Anne’s Hospital which spanned over 40 years.

Marion enjoyed spending time with family and friends, her backyard swing, several dogs and cats over the years, gardening, traveling, shopping, music, dancing, Christmas, and 4th of July. Her pierogis were the best. She sure did love to sing.

In addition to her husband of 44 years, she is survived by three much-loved children of whom she was proud: Linette Neas (husband Sean) of Berkley, Frank C. Grace (wife Bonnie) of Acushnet, and Walter J. Grace (wife Maritza) of Fall River.

A special joy to Marion was being “Babci” to three very bright lights in her life: her wonderful grandsons Nathan A. Grace and Nicholas D. Grace of Acushnet, and Matthew A. Grace of Fall River.

She will be greatly missed by aunts, cousins, sisters-in-law, and friends. Marion was predeceased by her brother, Walter Gasior of Attleboro.

Marion died after a long, strong, and brave fight with leukemia. The family appreciates the care she received from Dr. Robert J. Soiffer, Dr. Francisco Marty, Dr. Richard M. Stone, and staff at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Overlook VNA and Hospice.

Donations may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in memory of Marion Grace to support cancer research and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 or via www.dana-farber.org/gift.
