Eleanor M. (Nover) Ridings, a long time resident of Charlestown and former resident of Somerville for over 50 years, passed into eternal life on Monday, January 21, 2013 at her home in Charlestown. She was 82 years old.
Eleanor was born in Boston on June 25, 1930, a daughter of the late Otto Nover and Grace (Brennan) Nover. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1948. Eleanor was a dedicated homemaker while caring for her husband and 4 sons while living in Somerville. She was an active parishoner at St. Benedicts Parish in Somerville before moving back to Charlestown. Eleanor was a member of the Old Charlestown Schoolgirls Association and her favorite past time was listening to opera.
Eleanor is the beloved wife of the late John P. Ridings. She is the devoted mother of John P. Ridings Jr. and his fiance Rose Messina of North Reading, Ronald Ridings of Boston, Robert Ridings and his wife Pamela of Fitchburg and William Ridings and his wife Maureen of Scituate. She is the loving Nana to Christopher, Jason, Christine, Jenna, Eric, Michelle, Brittany and her great-grandchildren; Chason and Cassidy. She is the beloved sister of the late Joseph Nover and Dorothy Rea.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Eleanor's Funeral on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, January 24, 2013 from 3 to 7 P.M. in the funeral home.
