Obituary

Mayo Grimsley, 90, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, January 21, 2013 at Heritage Health Care of Fitzgerald.

Funeral services will be held 3 PM, Thursday, January 24, 2013, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Randall LaRoche and the Rev. Dan Hayes officiating. Sharon Pettis will give the eulogy. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-9 Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Grimsley was born September 24, 1922, in Cochran, Georgia, to the late Will and Alice Hunt Grimsley. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving his country during WWII. He lived in the community since 1936 and was a shift supervisor for 35 years at Fitzgerald Mills, former superintendent for Modern Fibers for 15 ½ years, and a Pinkerton security guard at Dorminy Medical Center. He attended the Nazarene Church in Fitzgerald.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law: Marie & Bob Bridwell of Fitzgerald; son and daughter-in-law: Dr. Alan & Linda Grimsley of Sylvester; daughter and son-in-law: Sharon & Vernon Pettis of Ocilla; daughter-in-law: Betty Carol Grimsley of Middleburg, Florida; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren; brother: Walter Grimsley of Centerville and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Edith Estelle Jones Grimsley; a son: Bobby Grimsley; a great-granddaughter: Brandi Watts; five brothers and five sisters.

The family suggests that those desiring to send memorials do so to the charity of their choice.
