Kathleen "Vera" Austin (Thompson) passed away peacefully at her home in Scituate, RI on January 20, 2013. She was the devoted wife of 60 years to John Austin also of Scituate.
Born in Derbyshire England, Vera married her one true love on March 8, 1952. In September 1958, she travelled across the Atlantic to join her husband in Stratford, Ontario, Canada to begin their new life together.
In 1976, the family moved from Canada to Shawnee Mission, Kansas and then moved again in 1979 to Scituate where she lived the rest of her life.
She was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great grand-mother. She lived her life with kindness, compassion, grace and dignity and always had a kind word or a smile for everyone she met. Her tireless dedication to her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchild will be remembered and cherished by each of them, and her spirit will live on through them for the rest of their lives.
Vera is survived by her husband, John, daughter, Shelley Bradley and her husband Paul of Salem, MA and her grand-daughters, Rachel and Meghann; her grandson, Andrew Perogino and his wife Ashley of Syracuse, NY and her great grandson Julius; son Ian and his wife Lynn of Cranston RI and her grandson Dennis. She also has four remaining brothers in England - Harry, Trevor and his wife Beryl, Ken and his wife Liz and Keith and his wife Margaret.
Visitation to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00pm in the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville, RI.
