Obituary

Natalie White McCarthy, 87, of Kennebunk, ME, formerly of Arlington, VA died Friday, January 18, 2013 at the Huntington Commons, Kennebunk, ME. She was born on May 11, 1925 in Saco, ME, a daughter of the late James H. and Blanche (Smith) White. Mrs. McCarthy was a nurse for many years including at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. She was a member of the New England Genealogical Society, the American Women’s Club, Paris, France and Buenos Aires, Argentina. Natalie also belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed traveling, history and genealogy.
She is survived by three daughters, Diana M. Bernard, Deborah A. McCarthy and Linda McCarthy-Milone; and one son, George E. McCarthy III; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Captain George McCarthy Jr., USMM, and by one brother, Bernard F. White.
There are no calling hours. Graveside services were held on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 9:00am in the Forest Hill Cemetery, East Derry, NH. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry handled the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation (www.macular.org).
