Evelyn Melvin Gommie Griffin, 86, of Savannah, died on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 at Hospice Savannah surrounded by her loving family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Barney Griffin a grandson, William Anthony Griffin, her mother, father and seven siblings.
Evelyn was retired from Candler-Telfair Hospital after many years of service. She attended the Sanctuary of Savannah.
Evelyn is survived by a son, James Thomas Griffin (Wanda); two daughters, Christie Griffin Adams (Victor) and Diane Griffin White (Willard); 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several members of the Griffin family who loved and honored her as a sister.
Memorial Visitation: 6:00 to 7:00p.m. Thursday, Jan 3, 2013 with a Memorial Service to follow at Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel with Dr. Hugo Hammond and Pastor Todd McDaniel Officiating. Graveside Service will be conducted on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at 11:00a.m. at Old Valley Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Ocilla, GA with Elder Herman Griffin and Elder Charles Tyson Officiating.
