Obituary

Bart (Bartolomi) Gerard Rousseau, 80, of Derry died January 15, 2013 at his residence. Bart was born September 7, 1932 in Lowell, MA and was a son of the late Alphonse and Germaine (LaRochelle) Mallas.
Bart was a lover of music, art, culture, animals (especially dogs), and was an avid reader (sometimes 4-5 books a month!). He also enjoyed playing chess and cribbage.
He spent much of his time creating and collecting exquisitely detailed works of Egyptian art. He traveled extensively throughout the USA and to over 25 countries, with Egypt being his most beloved. He visited Egypt 5 times and was even a tour guide on a few trips.
As a young man he served in the Army with the Army Security Agency in Ft. Devens, Mass and in Germany in the early 1950s.
Bart worked for Sherwin Williams, Sanders Associates and WR Grace. Later in life he studied and taught piano, voice and ballroom dance. He also sang professionally and worked as an emcee and comic. He loved spending time with his daughter, son in law and granddaughter, all of whom are musical performers. One of his greatest joys was attending their concerts.
Members of the family include his daughter, Deborah (Perley) Rousseau-Smith and her husband Mark (Sonny Daye) Smith of Albany, NY, his granddaughter Desiree (Rain) Rousseau-Smith and great granddaughter Adyashanti Rousseau-Smith, his sister Charmaine Christopher, a niece Cara Stacey Forcino and great niece, Elise Forcino. He was predeceased by a nephew, Lee Forcino.
We love him dearly and will miss him more than words can say. However, we are comforted to know that he is at peace and perhaps, even enjoying the company of Isis and Tutankhamen!
A Life Celebration is being planned for a future date. Those interested in attending should contact [email protected]. In lieu of flowers, Charitable donations to Community Caregivers of Greater Derry - 58 East Broadway, Derry NH 03038 are very much appreciated.
