Obituary

SHERBORN: June Dudley Queijo, age 85, of Sherborn, formerly of Sudbury, died peacefully at the Miriam Boyd Parlin Hospice in Wayland after a brief illness on Sunday, January 13, 2013. She was the devoted wife of the late Anthony A. Queijo for 52 years.

Born, raised and educated in Marlborough, she was a daughter of the late Roy M. and Eleanor G. (Obear) Dudley. After completing courses at a secretarial school, she was employed briefly with a major airline in Washington, DC. June then returned to the Boston area and worked with Telechron in Ashland, where she met her future husband.

The Queijo’s married in 1950 and lived for a short time in Framingham before settling in Sudbury. After staying at home with her children in their youth, June went back to work, this time for the US Air Force in the office at the weather radar station in Sudbury. She continued at the radar station after the family’s 1974 move to Sherborn and, after a brief retirement, returned at the request of her supervisors for several more years. June spent much of her time outdoors, tirelessly working in her beautiful flower garden, and she also loved bird-watching. She was dedicated to staying active with other seniors at the MetroWest YMCA in Framingham and had a great talent for restoring furniture. June’s other passions included playing challenging word games and she was a voracious reader of mystery novels.

She was the loving mother of Janice Q. Carpenter and her husband Alan of Carlisle, Mark A. Queijo and his wife Janice of Hubbardston, and Jon P. Queijo of Watertown, the proud grandmother of Brett, Brooke, Josh, and Robert, and the doting great-grandmother of Brayden. Sister of the late Myrtle Leonard and Benjamin Dudley, June is survived by several nieces and nephews. There will be no public services.

Memorial gifts made in her memory to the Sherborn Fire & Rescue Assoc., P.O. Box 277, Sherborn, MA 01770 or to the MetroWest YMCA, Attn: M. Kimball, 280 Old Conn Path, Framingham, MA 01701 would be appreciated.
