Obituary

ROBERT E. LINSCOTT, age 85, of Hingham, died on Wednesday, July 7th at the Queen Anne Nursing Home in Hingham after a long illness. Mr. Linscott was born in Hingham and was a lifelong resident of the town. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving first with the 3rd Horse Cavalry at Fort Ethan Allen, Vermont and then with the 777th Tank Battalion in Germany. He then served as a firefighter with the Hingham Fire Department from 1952 until 1973. Following his retirement he worked for a number of years at the Rockland Golf Course.He leaves his wife, Anna M. (Griffin) Linscott, and his son, Gerard F. Linscott both of Hingham. He was the brother of Everett W. Linscott of Atlanta, GA and the late Ardys L. Cabral. Grandfather of Timothy R. Linscott of Pembroke and Kimberly Ann Linscott of Lunenburg, MA Great grandfather of Caroline G. Linscott of Pembroke.A Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday, July 10th at 10 AM at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham.Friends may visit at the Downing Chapel on Friday from 2- & 7-9 PM.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress St., 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02210.The interment will be in the High Street Cemetery, Hingham.
