Dartmouth – Kenneth R. Shields, Jr., 50, of Dartmouth died Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at home after a brief illness.
He was born in Patterson, New Jersey, son of Kenneth R. Shields, Sr. of Fall River and the late Rita (Corriea) Shields, and was a resident of Dartmouth for the past 11 years. Prior to his illness he was employed as a cab driver for Yellow Cab Co. in New Bedford.
Mr. Shields was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War. While serving his country he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal Device. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 9059 of Dartmouth.
Including his father he is survived by a loving companion: Sharon Mastera of Dartmouth; 2 sons: Eric Shields of Fall River and Ethan Shields of Dartmouth; a daughter: Carrie Ann Shields of New Bedford; and a sister: Dawn Barao-Shields of Fall River.
He was the brother of the late Robin Shields.
Graveside services to which relatives and friends are invited will be held on Friday, July 9, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. at Acushnet Cemetery, Acushnet.
