Obituary

Hilda Raudner Lapointe passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 at Apple Rehab of Mystic. She was predeceased by her parents and brother during WWII, a grandson Jonathan Lapointe, and in 1999 by her beloved husband Leo E. Lapointe.

Hilda was born in Austria, daughter of John & Elizabeth Raudner. Her early years were spent living in Holland (Netherlands) until the WWII. After the war she moved to the United States making her home in Berlin, New Hampshire where she met and married the love of her life, Leo. They moved their family to settle in Connecticut in the mid 1950’s living in the Hartford and Bristol areas. Moving to North Stonington in 1976 where together they ran their mobile home business. Hilda continued to run the business with the help of her family until a few years ago.

She was active for many years in the North Stonington Grange and Lyons Club with her husband. For many years she enjoyed traveling, boating, camping and vacationing in New Hampshire. She was a talented silk floral arranger and made many arrangements that she enjoyed giving as gifts or donations for various fundraisers. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Thomas More Parish in No. Stonington.

She is survived by her daughter, Marguerite (Peggy) McEnteggart and her husband Paul of Stonington, their children Lauren O’Neil and her husband David, Stephen McEnteggart and his wife Delia; a son, Daniel Lapointe and his wife Valerie of Westerly, RI, his children David, Richard, Mathew and his wife Terry. Her passing is mourned by her family, she will be sorely missed, but they will continue to celebrate her love of life and forever be greatful for having had the privilege to share in her life.

Visitation will be at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Sunday, Jan. 20th from 2 to 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, Jan. 21, at St. Thomas More Church, Rte. 201 in North Stonington. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center, the Westerly Adult Dare Care Center, or the Apple Rehab Recreational Dept.
