Dorsie L. (Chapman) Jones, 77 years, of Brockton passed away January 14, 2013. She was born November 12, 1935 in Grovehill Alabama to the late St Chapman and Gertha (Coates) Chapman. At an early age she moved to Cincinnati Ohio where she met her future husband in elementary school, when he was eight years old. She is the beloved wife of 58 years to Santos B. Jones.
Dorsie was an active member of the Eureka Butler Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Mt Olivet Chapter of the Royal Ladies, and the daughters of Isis, Syria Court Temple #10 all in Boston and the Ladies Auxiliary of DESA. She enjoyed bingo, trips to Foxwoods and good conversation with friends and family around the kitchen table; and she always looked forward to the families annual 4th of July cookout. She was employed by the former Bradlees Company in Brockton for more than 24 years and retired in 2000.
In addition to her husband Santos she is survived by her loving children Bernetta Smith of Boston, Santos B. Jones, Jr of Waterford, CT, Dorothea B. Jones and Geraldine C Jones-Alston both of Brockton and Tris Juanita Jones-Owens of AZ; and her 12 grand and 13 great grandchildren. She also was the mother of the late Christal A Jones- Saunders. She also leaves three sisters and a brother, Joe Chapman, Lucy Jones, Lena Ward, Emma Witcher all of Cincinnati;a cousin Taylor Lee Lavin from Kansas City and an aunt Arcola Pigh of Jackson, Alabama.
Visiting hours in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday 6-9PM. A funeral procession will form at the funeral home Friday at 8am for a funeral mass in Christ the King Parish at 9am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
