David C. Rego, age 74 of Westport, passed away on January 15, 2013 at his daughter’s home with his family by his side. He was the husband of Maria (Braga) Rego. Born in Capelas, São Miguel, Açores, he was the son of the late Miguel Sousa Rego and Mariana (Reis Costa) Rego. Prior to retiring, David worked as a general carpenter for Quaker Fabric Co. He was a parishioner of Espirito Santo Church, the Portuguese Cultural Association, and enjoyed entertaining people with his guitar playing.
In addition to his wife of Westport, he is survived by his children: Clarisse Botelho (husband Duarte) of Westport, Paulo Costa of Fall River Helena da Gloria (husband Ronildo) of Fall River, Ricardo Costa of Maine, Victor Costa of Lisbon, Portugal, Melinda Costa of Fall River, José Costa of Fall River, the late Eduardo Costa, Cremilde Costa of Fall River, David Costa of England, and Jesse Rego of Tiverton; 22 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, a sister, 3 brothers, nieces & nephews.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, INC. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on FRIDAY at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Espirito Santo Church, Alden St. at 10:30 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery.
