Obituary

Mr. Ronald F. Holmes, Sr., of Taunton and formerly of Easton, died Monday, January 14 in Morton Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was the former husband of Mary (Pombo) Holmes of Easton. He was born 74 years ago in Brockton, the son of the late Francis and Ethel (Peterson) Holmes. He was educated in Easton and was a graduate of Oliver Ames High School. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a truck driver for Boro Sand and Stone in North Attleboro for 10 years. Ronald was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the early Vietnam Era. He was a member of the Ames Rifle and Pistol Club in North Easton, the Gun Owners Action League, and was a Life Member of the National Rifle Association. A gun enthusiast, he was also an avid Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and Boston Celtics fan, and he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He leaves: 2 sons: Ronald F. Holmes, Jr. and his wife, Joanne of So.Easton, and Michael J. Holmes of Taunton; 2 brothers: Arthur M. Holmes of Easton and Alan C. Holmes of Brockton; 3 grandchildren: Ronald F. Holmes, III, Heather Holmes and Ashley Holmes; 2 stepgrandchildren: Danielle and Pat Kippenhan; 1 great granddaughter: Chloe, and many loving nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, Taunton, on Thursday, January 17 at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow in the V.A. National Cemetery, Bourne. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Wednesday, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.
