Irene F. (Morris) Livramento, 91, of New Bedford, formerly of Fairhaven, peacefully and gracefully passed away at Rhode Island Hospital surrounded by her loving family on Sunday January 13, 2013.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late William J. and Olivia (Fernandes) Morris, she lived most of her life in Fairhaven. After her marriage to the late Arthur J. Livramento, she lived many places abroad and stateside as a military family. At the time of her death she was residing at Whalers Cove Assisted Living in New Bedford.
Since retiring from the New Bedford Council on Aging, Irene had devoted her life to helping others, always there in times of need. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, reading, dancing, music, and spending time with her family and friends.
She was the devoted mother of Ronald A. Livramento of New Bedford and his wife Geraldine, Marlene A. Souza of Marion and her husband John, Donald A. Livramento of Fairhaven and his companion Robin Hurley, Darlene A. Andrade and her husband Anthony of Rumford, RI. Irene was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and Godchildren whom she adored and many long time friends.
She was preceded in death by her sister and best friend Emelia (Millie Morris) Lopes and two brothers, William J. Morris and Victor J. Morris.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 9 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Fairhaven.
