Mr. Daniel P. Kiley, III, of Haverhill passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday morning, January 12, 2013, after a courageous 2 1/2 year battle with brain cancer.
Born in Peabody, Massachusetts, on November 22, 1943, he was the son of Daniel P. Kiley, Jr. and Marcia (Peterson) Kiley. He was raised in Lawrence, Massachusetts and educated at St. Augustine’s Grammar School, Central Catholic High School and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
He was the Executive Director of the Lawrence Housing Authority in the 1970’s. Mr. Kiley was a General Contractor, building and remodeling many homes and businesses in the Merrimack Valley. Daniel was formerly in the fitness industry as owner of Gold’s Gym in Nashua, New Hampshire and Nautilus Plus in Billerica, for many years.
He was an avid golfer and former member of the Indian Ridge Country Club in Andover and Crystal Springs in Haverhill. He also enjoyed downhill skiing, water skiing and mostly being with his large circle of family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Barbara Connolly Kiley of Haverhill; daughter, Colleene Kiley and her husband Mark Barnard and grandson, Alexander Kiley Barnard of North Andover; brother Atty. Thomas Kiley and his wife Linda of Windham, New Hampshire; sister, Ellen Morrow and her husband Keith of Methuen; sister Marcia Lemay and her husband Donald of Alton, New Hampshire; brother Mark Kiley and his wife Monica of Andover and brother Robert Kiley of Haverhill; sisters and brothers-in-law, Maureen and Dennis Uliano of Haverhill, Mark Connolly and Sharon Madensky of Lawrence and Paul and Nikki Connolly of New York. He is also survived by his aunts; Helen James of Lynnfield, Jackie Peterson of Tennessee and Lucy Peterson of Peabody as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of Daniels life was held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at 11 AM. Many relatives and friends were in attendance. Calling hours were held on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, from 4 to 8 PM. Interment was privately held.
