Virgil G. Adair, 74, of Worcester, died Saturday, January 12th in St. Vincent Hospital. He leaves his wife of 50 years, Mary E. (Dee) Adair; a son, Joseph W. Adair and his wife Mona of Webster; a daughter, Donna M. Burroughs and her husband John of Brimfield; three brothers, Jerry Adair and his wife Peggy of Orange Park, FL, Benjamin Jones and his wife Rita of Gloucester, VA, and Fred Jones of Missoula, Montana; a sister, Donna Mae Gleave of Utah; six grandchildren, Zachary, Joseph, Mariah, Angela, Susan, and Jim; a great grandson, Aiden; and nephews and nieces. His son, Virgil G. Adair, Jr., died in 1989.
He was born in Cody, Wyoming, the son of Robert Adair and Bethel (Feyhl) Adair Jones and lived here for many years. Virgil was a machinist at Heald Machine, Cincinnati Milichron, and later at Crucible Steel, before retiring in 2005. He was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Church and the Disabled Veterans of America. Mr. Adair was a U.S. Army and U.S. Navy veteran. He enjoyed fishing, dogs, going to the casino, visiting the ocean, and spending time with his grandchildren.
The funeral is Friday, January 18th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10:00 A.M. in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 5 Spaulding Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday, January 17th in the funeral home.
