Obituary

Estelle C. Laverdiere, 83, of Manchester died January 12, 2013 at the Catholic Medical Center after a period of declining health.
She was born in Chicopee, MA on February 21, 1929, the daughter of Clarence and Rita (Laroque) Ricard. She was educated in the Chicopee school system and had graduated from Cathedral High School in Springfield, MA.
Estelle had worked as a receptionist at St. Marie Church Rectory for many years prior to her retirement. She had also been employed by E&R Laundry and had worked as a daycare provider for St. Peter’s Orphanage.
She was a longtime choir member at St. Marie Church and a member of the parish’s Ladies of St. Anne Sodality. She was an officer of the Women’s Auxiliary at the Alpine Club, had spent time volunteering at the Catholic Medical Center, and enjoyed bowling, dancing, camping, and traveling in the family RV.
She was predeceased by her husband Armand J. Laverdiere in 1998.
Family members include her son Leo A. Laverdiere of Franklin; her grandson and caregiver for the past 10 years Randy Laverdiere of Amherst; two great-granddaughters Desiree and Destiny Laverdiere of Amherst; four sisters Cecile Janusz of Chicopee, MA, Jeannine Patrick of Northampton, MA, Lorraine Patrick, Chicopee, MA, and Anita Bean of Towshend, VT; several nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 in St Marie Church, Notre Dame Ave. Burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery will be at a later date.
